Getting Upgraded in your Las Vegas Hotel
There are lots of deals available on hotels in Las Vegas so you should have no trouble finding a great rate for your stay. However you can improve this even further by getting yourself an upgrade. This is not particularly hard to do as long as you think like the casino and their employees.
The first thing if you want to get upgraded at a Las Vegas hotel is that you have to book your room directly with the hotel. Most people book Hotels in Las Vegas through those travel websites or a travel agent. The hotels usually lose money on these deals as it is so they are unlikely to upgrade somebody who books through them. If you book through the hotel directly they will likely be far more accommodating. Especially if you are a regular customer. If you make regular trips to Las Vegas try to stay in the same hotel each time, this will give a much better chance at an upgrade.
The one thing that you have to remember if you want to get an upgrade at a Las Vegas hotel is that the city is built on gambling. The hotels are really just there to get people into the casinos. In order to encourage people to gamble the hotels give out comps, that is free stuff to people who gamble. The comps that they give out can be almost anything but it often includes a room upgrade. In some cases the casino will have comps that are predetermined, you gamble a certain amount you get a specific comp. However in most cases the casino hosts will actually ask you what you want for your comp, in most cases they will agree to room upgrade.
In a lot of cases you can get a room upgrade simply by asking for one when you are checking in. As long as you are polite when you do this the clerk will often agree to it if they have any available. If you are going to ask remember that most people in Las Vegas make the bulk of their living from tips. If you want things like an upgrade it certainly helps to become known around the hotel as a good tipper.
One approach that some people try that may work but does have some risk is to book a hotel and then call and tell them you will be arriving late. In many cases they will have run out of regular rooms and have to give you an upgrade. Of course it is also possible but far less likely that they will have to downgrade you instead. If you are going to do this you absolutely have to call and tell them you will be late. If you don't call and you just show up late there is a good chance that you will wind up with no room at all.
